Diaries of The Morning Walkers - 11

Eight months later...

"Nope, I still don't think they look like a couple in love. It feels like they are friends." Mrs.Fernandes said stubbornly and the ladies groaned in exasperation.

"Oh, what will it take for both of them to fall in love?" Mrs.Khan asked in irritation.

"Ya, I don't understand. I mean look at that foolish girl. When she was about to bump into someone, Sumeet protectively pulled her aside. If I were in her place, I would have fallen for that guy. I can't believe my girl is such a dumbo!" Mrs.Kulkarni said in frustration as she watched Ayesha and Sumeet.

Mrs.Fernandes smiled knowingly. "Love is something that can never be forced. Leave the kids alone. They will figure it out."

(Meanwhile, a few metres away)

"So you still think the ladies are talking about us?" Sumeet asked Ayesha, sounding amused.

"Of course, they are. My mom must be thinking that she has the dumbest daughter in the world for not falling for you." Ayesha said.

"I don't think like that." Sumeet said seriously. and holding Ayesha's arm, he drew her towards a bench. "You are panting. Take some rest. We can run later."

Ayesha had slowly come to love these little yet precious gestures of caring and affection that Sumeet did for her. She smiled inwardly, basking in the glorious feeling of having someone who cared for her.

"I am scared to rush into anything now. We both have been through so much." Sumeet said thoughtfully. But why does everything that is associated with you, feel just about right?

"I don't want either one of us to go through that difficult phase again. So, as decided, for now we are sticking to being friends." Ayesha said in a pleasant tone. Although, I don't want to be 'just friends' with you anymore!

Sumeet draped his arm around her, as he often did now-a-days. This was a gesture that they both loved. "Friends. That's it." He said. But I hope for more, someday, when we both are ready.

"Hey, what are you doing this weekend? Would you like to watch the latest movie?"  He asked casually. Hope I don't sound too eager, but please say yes!

Ayesha looked at him. "Like a date?" Please say it is a date!

"No! Just two friends watching a movie!" It's a date, if that is what you want!

Ayesha shrugged. "All right." Yuhoooo!!!!

Sumeet smiled and sat back on the bench with a relaxed air, his arm still around Ayesha's shoulders. It felt right, it always felt right.

Ayesha looked at her watch, "Will have to leave now." They both got up reluctantly.

"I seem to have put on some weight. I need to jog every day now. I will be seeing you tomorrow morning." Sumeet said, looking everywhere, except at her. He didn't see her sly smile.

"Okay. See you tomorrow!" They both walked towards the entrance of the park, two scared souls trying to make place yet again for love in their lives.

This is the end, or beginning, depends on the way you see it! (Is Sunday, the first or the last day of the week?! Something like that!)

There is a beautiful quote which goes like this - 'At age 20, we worry about what others think of us. At age 40, we don't care what they think of us. At age 60, we discover they haven't been thinking of us at all!'

The Morning Walkers - they are a proof of the above fact! There is a Morning Walker inside every one of us, trying to be free, trying to live an uninhibited life, having crazy dreams and silly wishes. Don't bury them! The time to be crazy is NOW. The time to fulfill your silly wishes is NOW. The time to live is NOW!

And with this message, the Morning Walkers Series ends here. Thank you for keeping up with the ladies all this while! And always remember, NOW is the time to be your true, original and wonderful self!
